National Lutheran Communities & Services Contributes to Seniors Affected by the 2017 Hurricanes

December 12, 2017

Rockville, MD- National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) rallied to help the victims of the 2017 hurricanes that swept through parts of Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, leaving widespread damage. A total of $24,510 raised for disaster relief went directly to assist the needs of seniors affected by the hurricanes.

The contributions came from NLCS plus 42 individuals within the National Lutheran family, including staff members, board members and residents. The donation was given to Lutheran Disaster Response of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) who distributed the funds for recovery efforts. Lutheran Disaster Response brings God’s hope, healing and renewal to people whose lives have been disrupted by disasters in the United States and around the world.

“National Lutheran Communities & Services is committed to serving seniors,” Chief Philanthropy Officer Kathryn Baerwald said. “We are pleased to be able to support and help the ELCA aid those who were affected by the hurricanes.”
