More than just care, the kind of care your family would give
A skilled nursing liaison provides continuity for Washington, D.C. families.
Perhaps nowhere is the original mission of caring for seniors better shown than in the skilled nursing services at The Village at Rockville. Lutheran care has become synonymous for advanced services and genuine compassion in the Washington, D.C. region. Here you see the everyday values of faith and ministry put into practice.
We are doing something right: 97 percent of the families surveyed recently said they would recommend National Lutheran healthcare services to their friends - Maryland Nursing Home Facility Satisfaction Survey 2010
Each person has a care plan prepared by the patient, their family and the staff. The team knows your name, what you like, and something about your life. Continual communication motivates families to entrust their loved ones into our care. We have:
- A 24-hour visitation policy (including pet visitors with vet clearance!)
- A robust activities schedule, with a major music enrichment program
- 24-hour skilled nursing team
- 84% private rooms
- Physician services 365 days, onsite
- Medical specialists (podiatry, physiatry, ophthalmology, audiology, psychology)
- Memory care
- Pastoral care
- Infusion/IV services
- Bariatric care
- Wound care
- TPN (total parenteral nutrition)
- Hospice services and palliative care
- Restorative nursing
- Respiratory services (oxygen, nebulizer)
We also have two full-time resident care assistants, who serve as the eyes and ears of the family and provide service: getting newspaper and magazine subscriptions, buying items online, handling dry cleaning, delivering mail—in general, checking to make sure customer requests, large or small, get prompt attention.
The Village at Rockville is one of the few senior living communities with a nurse liaison who follows up at home with patients who need special care after their stay in our center.
We’re using tomorrow’s technology today to serve them. The PointClickCare POC system allows the nursing staff to create more timely, more accurate and more complete documentation—and we are one of the few skilled nursing centers in the area to feature it. This capability greatly reduces the possibility of error and also lets the nurses spend more time with your loved one.

“Laura visited my mother at the hospital and then called me. She worked diligently to contact the hospitalists and nurses to facilitate my mother’s discharge that evening form the hospital. My mother was becoming increasingly confused after only one day in the hospital. The doctor was considering sedating her. Laura worked late before a holiday weekend to get my mother back to the National Lutheran Home & Village and familiar surroundings.” – Son of a resident
