Fall in love with Viva Verdi – Part One

Join The Village at Rockville—A National Lutheran Community for an enriching program offered by our community partner, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at John Hopkins University. This series explores the work of Giuseppe Verdi regarded as one of the greatest Italian composers of all time. Attendees will see and hear excerpts from his youthful masterpieces through the enduring favorites of his older years as he won over the world with a lifetime of musical triumphs.

On November 11, enjoy the first event in our four part series:

“Nabucco and Macbeth”

Verdi became a symbol of Italian desire for freedom from foreign oppression with the stirring chorus, “Va, pensiero,” from his third opera, “Nabucco” of 1841. Five years later, he tackled Shakespeare for the first time and moved Italian opera to a new level of dramatic truth.

Classes are $15 per person. Please register for this program by November 6 or as soon as possible. For registration information, call 301-294-7047 or visit
