The Village at Rockville presents an organ concert featuring Jeffrey R. Pannebaker.

A native of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Jeffrey earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Penn State University and a master’s degree in sacred music from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He also earned a Master of Arts and a doctorate in historical musicology from the University of Pittsburgh.

From 1974 to 1988, he served as director of music and Christian education at First Lutheran Church in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He then served as director of music at Saint Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, from 1988 to 2018, leading multiple choirs, concerts, tours and community outreach events. In September 2018, he became organist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Pannebaker is a rostered minister of Word and Service, or deacon, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He has participated in conferences of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians and the American Guild of Organists and has presented workshops, organ recitals and hymn festivals throughout the eastern United States. He currently serves on the board of the Lutheran Historical Society of the Mid-Atlantic. His doctoral dissertation, “Early Lutheran Music in America: The Hymnody of the General Synod,” examines the hymn repertoire of the English-language Lutheran churches that composed the General Synod in 19th-century America.

He and his wife, Linda Haines Pannebaker, a native of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have two children, Emily of Kirkland, Washington, and Aaron of Lincolnton, North Carolina, and seven grandchildren.
