A natural leader, Linda has been Dining Committee chair, Buddy Program creator, Club Room table game instructor and fun-loving planner.

Linda is a native Marylander, having grown up in Wheaton. In school, she loved her
mathematics classes. Her longstanding interest in becoming a nurse led her to enroll in the University of Maryland Nursing Program. After two years, she realized nursing was not right for her, and her “just do it!” instincts urged her to change direction.
She went to work full time, married a pre-law student at age 20, and moved with her
husband to Florida. After two babies and 10 years of marriage, she was divorced and
returned to school for a degree in computer science. There followed a career at IBM that lasted over 30 years. She rapidly rose to managerial status in the company, over the years leading multiple departments. IBM was a great fit for Linda. She loved that her job required continual learning. Also, being passionate about diversity and inclusion, she admired IBM as a corporate pioneer for workforce diversity.
Another of Linda’s passions is travelling the world. She has visited 47 countries – not as a conventional tourist, but by exploring the local customs, meeting the country’s people, travelling sometimes alone, sometimes with her children or friends. Her travel adventures include exploring her spirituality in India, milking a yak in Mongolia, staying in a tent in the Gobi desert, dining with a local couple who explained the evolution of their arranged marriage, and volunteering for a three-week stint with an Israeli Army Unit.
Linda remains very close to her adult daughter Evyan who lives in New Paltz, New York, with her husband Stewart and son Alasdair. She also stays close to her son Jason who lives in Szczecin, Poland, with his wife Asia and daughters Ina and Tonia. And, of course, her two cats – Motts and Olive – qualify as family.
In 2021, Linda’s closest friend from childhood, Barbara Jewett, invited Linda to visit her at her new home at TVAR. Linda flew in from Texas and quickly recognized that Glenmere was also the right community for her. Her “just do it!” mantra kicked in, and she made her deposit then and there.
As our new ILA President, Linda will listen, will explain, and will “just do what is right” for our community. Watch for her to tap the expertise of TVAR residents. As she said, “I moved here because of the community of people who have such amazing experience and diverse backgrounds!” We know she will lead the ILA with imagination and integrity.
